Leon Augustine is an American football Kicker for the Indianapolis Colts. He was a JuCo transfer from Columbia-Greene Community College and finished his collegiate career playing at North Texas. The Indianapolis Colts selected him with the 123rd overall pick in the 2020 NFLHC Draft.

Early Years
Augustine was born in Hudson, New York. The son of a Spanish journalist, he was raised in Málaga, Spain before returning to the United States as a young teenager. He walked on to the varsity soccer squad his freshman year at Hudson High School which lead to his role as place kicker for the varsity football team. He was also a member of the school's varsity swim team his freshman and sophomore year.
College Career
Augustine was not offered any scholarships straight out of high school and his parents were not financially stable enough to send him to university after he graduated. He was accepted into Columbia-Greene Community College where he tried out for the school's soccer team but was not able to make the first team. He decided to try out for the school's football team where he caught the eye of many other universities by the time he was eligible for transfer his sophomore year, (2017). From there he transferred to North Texas for his Junior and Senior year. He graduated with a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcasting. In his premier year with North Texas in 2018 he was named to the C-USA All Conference team and was voted C-USA Specialist Player of the Year by Media and Coaches. In his Senior year, 2019, he was named to the All-American team, won the Lou Groza Award for being the best place kicker in CFBHC and he won the Vlade Award, which is a place kicker award voted on by coaches who have won a National Championship.

Professional Career
Draft
Augustine was selected in the 4th round of the 2020 draft. He was the first of three kickers selected in the draft, and 123rd player overall. He signed his rookie contract with Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Colts
Augustine had a mediocre rookie season, hitting 23 of 29 attempts. Heading into his second season, he suffered a severe groin tear during training camp. He missed the first four weeks of the season and was not the same when he returned. He missed 7 of 15 attempts and was benched for Dana Currier. The Colts drafted Chris Connell in the 6th round and had an open competition for the starting job between Augustine, Currier, and Connell. Connell won the job, Augustine was moved to the practice squad, and Currier was cut.
