Draft

The Patriots selected Williams with the 58th overall pick in the 2014 NFLHC Draft.

New England Patriots

Williams had a great rookie season, making the only Pro Bowl appearance of his career. He finished with 5.21 YPC and 16 TDs in 11 games. Williams was continuing this production in his 2nd season but suffered a torn achilles in week 15 cutting his season short. After the 2015 season, the Patriots let Williams go to free agency.

San Diego Chargers

Williams was highly sought after in free agency. A total of 8 teams bid on him. The Chargers would win the bidding war after giving Williams a 1 year deal for $13 million. Despite the large payout, Williams would be Shawn Cole's backup until Williams was traded at the trade deadline to the Detroit Lions for Quincy Turner and two backup players.

Detroit Lions

Williams became the Lions starting RB halfway through the 2016 season. In the final 7 games, Williams had 9 TDs and averaged 5.11 YPC. Williams was the Lions starter until the 2020 season when he was traded for a 5th round pick back to the New England Patriots.

New England Patriots

Williams returned to the Patriots in 2020 and is currently the starter ahead of Josh Shiancoe.
