College Career

Javier Grady struggled academically through high school and attended Northwest-Shoals Community College for the first two years of his collegiate Career. He transferred as a JuCo in 2019 to North Texas where he immediately earned his spot as the team's #1 defensive end in offseason. After his performance in week four, he earned National Defensive CFBHC Player of the Week and was awarded the Defensive Captain's armband by Head Coach Pizzarolls. He again was named National Defensive player of the week in week eight and nine, respectively. Although failing to meet some expectations his Junior year after having a relatively quiet second half of the season, he was still named a part of the CUSA All-Conference Team by the Coaches and Media. He continued his success in his senior season, finishing his career with 27.5 sacks in 24 games.

Draft

Grady was considered a first round talent but there were concerns that his production in college were due to playing in the C-USA. The Dallas Cowboys selected Grady with the 27th pick in the first round.
