Javier Fields (born May 2nd, 1991) is an American football quarterback for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Kentucky. The Atlanta Falcons selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 NFLHC Draft. He was traded to the Redskins in the offseason, following the 2016 NFLHC season.

College Career

Javier Fields attended Kentucky, starting in his final year at the school as a redshirt Senior. He led them to a 6-6 record in his only year as starting quarterback, and a bowl berth. He was known for his eccentric personality on the field, showing emotion often on the field and on the sideline. He and Austin Medina were one of the best quarterback and wide receiver combos in the nation during his senior year.

Professional Career

In the 2015 NFLHC Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Fields in the 4th round. He signed a 3 year, $9 million dollar contract. He was traded to the Washington Redskins as part of a package of players and picks for the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 NFLHC draft.

Atlanta Falcons

Javier Fields became the starting quarterback for the Falcons after being drafted in 2015, and remained the starter for the entirety of 2015 and 2016, leading the Falcons to a Super Bowl victory in 2016.

Washington Redskins

Javier Fields was immediately named the starting quarterback for the 2017 season upon arriving at Redskins camp, and has retained that position since joining the team. In the 2018 offseason, Fields signed a 3 year extension through 2020 with the team worth $50 million.

In his first season as a Redskin, Fields led the team in their inaugural season to a 6-10 record, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. In 2018, he posted nearly identical stats, and was able to lead the team to 9 wins, maintaining playoff eligibility until the very last game of the regular season.
