Byron Suggs is an American football quarterback for the Central Michigan Chippewas.
Early Years
Suggs attended Pewaukee High School (home of the Pirates) in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Suggs was a two sport athlete excelling in both football and basketball.
Recruiting
Suggs was a highly sought after recruit and committed to Central Michigan after receiving numerous offers.
College Career
Suggs redshirted his first year on campus, but assumed the starting role at Central Michigan as a redshirt freshman. In his first season at QB, Suggs established himself as a one of the top QB's in the country passing for 3,341 yards, 27 touchdowns and 8 interceptions while adding 418 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. The Chippewas finished the 2021 season with a 7-6 record and defeated FIU 31-27 in the Boca Raton Bowl. As a result of his play on the field, Suggs was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year in the Mid-American Conference.
The 2022 season brought high expectations that Suggs would continue to grow as a QB and those expectations were met. Suggs would lead the Chippewas to a 9-4 record and to a 35-13 victory over UTEP in the Frisco Bowl. For the season, Suggs passed for 3,876 yards, 30 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Suggs added 396 yards rushing along with 5 touchdowns. His success on the field led to him being named first team all-conference at the QB position.
