The 2014 Miami Dolphins season was the franchise's first season in the National Football League. They were one of sixteen teams participating in the NFL's inaugural season and were placed in the AFC East division along with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, and New York Jets.
After starting 0-2 with away losses to the Jets and Patriots the Dolphins did not lose another regular season game, finishing 9-2 to claim the top seed in the AFC. They dispatched the Jets before losing a thrilling AFC Championship game to the Oakland Raiders which featured FIVE lead changes.
